1973
Reinhard Wirtgen establishes Wirtgen (GB) Limited as the contracting arm of Milling and Concrete Breaking contractor Wirtgen GmbH. The company is established in Lincoln.

Wirtgen (UK) Limited operate a fleet of hot planers
1978
Following Reinhard Wirtgen's decision to become an OEM for Milling and Recycling equipment, the contracting company is sold to Colas and relocated to Grantham in Lincolnshire.
1979
Colas UK Ltd is awarded the distributorship for Wirtgen equipment and the first sale of a Wirtgen milling machine was made to D.O.E Northern Ireland. In October the first Wirtgen cold planer is sold to Redland.
1982
The original Wirtgen distribution team including Paul Field, Mervyn Fox, Dave Miller, Steve Chi and Stuart Ashley who are all still with the company after more than 25 years.
1988
By now Wirtgen is a clear market leader and the machinery and distributorship business is separated from the mainstream Colas business. 'Allroads Technology' is formed as a stand alone company and relocated to workshops and offices in Lincoln. In addition to the distribution of Wirtgen equipment, Allroads Technology also designs and builds specialist maintenance equipment.

The first Wirtgen cold recycler is sold to Colas.

The first Wirtgen concrete slipform paver is sold in the UK, following the Wirtgen GmbH acquisition of SGME.
1995
Wirtgen GmbH purchase the business and assets of 'Allroads Technology' from Colas, thus creating a wholly owned subsidiary, 'Wirtgen Limited' to act as a distributor for all Wirtgen products in the UK and Ireland. All staff transfer to the new company.
1996
February: the first Wirtgen soil stabilizer is sold in the UK to McArdle.
October: Vogele AG is acquired by Wirtgen GmbH and Wirtgen Limited become the distributor of Vogele pavers for the UK and Ireland.
1996
Joseph Vögele AG becomes a member of the Wirtgen Group.
1998
July: new premises are designed and built at Whisby Road in Lincoln to cope with the growth of the business.
2000
Hamm AG in Tirschenreuth (Germany) becomes a member of the Wirtgen Group.
2005
The existing premises at Whisby Road, Lincoln double in size following the purchase of additional land. Wirtgen Limited also become the Hamm Dealer for Ireland.
2006
Kleemann GmbH becomes a member of the Wirtgen Group and is gradually integrated into the worldwide marketing and sales network.
2006
Wirtgen Ireland Limited forms as a stand alone company, serving Ireland from temporary premises in Kilcock, County Kildare. Later this year Kleemann GmbH is acquired by the Wirtgen Group and Kleemann UK is integrated into Wirtgen Limited. Following this acquisition, Wirtgen Limited forms 'Road and Mineral Technologies' to cater for the two distinct businesses.
2007
January: SAP computer system is installed in the UK and Ireland. July: planning permission is granted for a new premises to be built for Wirtgen Ireland Limited on land purchased at Enfield, County Meath. September: work begins on the Enfield site 30km West of Dublin.
2008
January: Wirtgen Ireland starts business in Enfield, County Meath.
